Research projects making use of image analysis
can be categorized in several ways. One way is to distinguish those projects
evaluating patterns from those analyzing processes.
Image analysis dealing with patterns may be involved with numerical
and/or comparative evaluations of shape. Pattern analysis may also involve
isolating, out of a complex image, those salient features that are relevant
to physical or biological systems. Image analysis of processes requires
the analysis and comparison of a series of time-lapse images. Visit the
image analysis research possibilities
page for more information.
Examples of Research Undertaken at the IAAF
The IAAF has supported several research projects
involving image acquisition and analysis. In addition many people have
made use of the facility to produce web pages, web-based teaching material
and posters. Visit our current research activities
page for more information about what kind of projects the IAAF currently
supports.
