WOOD FASCIA etc.

More of Gordons "Manila Taxi"   front door handle,  auto and handbrake area console,  passenger rear light             David Pastre's machine (it is all his fault!)

Wood dash inserts etc. are now available for a number of Alfa models - want to make your Alfa the envy of your local Cadillac dealer?  Well here you go...... Gordon reports his project......

Over the last 4 years since acquiring the 164, I have been gradually “changing” it’s appearance; those of you who have now grown accustomed to its yellow and green paintwork and 12” Benetton colored steering wheel etc, etc, will no doubt be even more “shocked” by the fact that I now intend to “spruce up the interior; namely the front/centre console and the door and lighting trim both front and rear. Plus centre and rear  “real” carbon fiber door posts.
Suffice it to say, I did NOT go for the added shock value of the Carbon Yellow inserts, which I did contemplate, in a TRUE moment of madness.
Instead I opted for “real wood trim”. Now those of you that are true handymen can no doubt knock up such items with ease and the right tools and equipment, or the right contacts. Suffice it to say, I have none of those charming attributes; or such handy contacts.
I did toy with the idea of approaching Dominic Zito, whose excellently restored 105 1750 GTV has some you beaut wood; however the expenses involved in making the templates for a 164 were I am sure going to be quite, er expensive……

So I hit the WWW, something I do quite often, to take the easy and sometimes less expensive way out.

It appears I hit the jackpot this time, what with the Aussie $ quite strong against the USA $ and being able to actually source someone who had done all the hard yakka already and not only just for wood for 164’s, also for GTVs including the 105 variety, 75s and Alfettas to name but a few garden variety models that this fellow has templates for and has created some wonderful wood/carbon fiber or fake wood interiors.

We struck up a friendship and a super deal was done plus I ordered some “other goodies” for the 164. David Pastre is his name and making interior wood items for Alfas is his game.

David Pastre has sent in a few schematics for the different Alfas he has manufactured interior wood for. They are up on display on this site and anyone interested in the real wood, fake wood or real carbon fiber trim or any other of his accessories can contact him and see his work via the cardomain.com address.
Do you think that I would spend more than $400.00 AUS? Well believe it or not “Ripley’s”, it cost me less.!!! That included the postage/packing, shipping, handling and insurance. I managed kit out in real beach wood the entire front console, rear ashtray, rear interior lights, interior door handles, switches etc for well under the $400.00 AUD; get in while the AUD is still buying 70c or more USD.

Check out the cardomain.com string first. David has photos of his 164 and its wood interior, although the photo is not a very good one. You can email him with enquiries and even send in your interior photos to him.
The real proof will of course be seen in my 164. For those that were unable to attend the Alfa Romeo Owner’s Club of WA annual Show N Shine event; held at Burswood Park on Monday (Anzac Day) 26th April, not only did you miss out on an outstanding display of Classics thru to a 2003 147 GTA,; but you also missed out on seeing the results of the interior of the 164, decked out in real wood, of a beach color that really matched the beige/tan leather of my 164.

I digress now, as I can also tell you that my 164 took out 2 of the 5 categories.
Best Daily Driver and Best Modified, I believe that the “spruced up” wood interior did have a part in winning those Trophies. More details will be in the May edition of the Clubs Magazine, the  “Al Volante”.

We have published photos and a write up on the 2004 Show N Shine on the site too.

We now have template copies of a few interiors that David Pastre has fabricated.  Go and take a look there may well be something that you may like he does interior stuff for heaps of Alfa models, it’s just at the moment he owns a 164S, the Q model.  He also makes REAL carbon fibre door inserts for the exterior of the door plates on 164s and a few other models. Feel free to email him your enquiries, he is a very easy going, honest guy who will strive to please you.
Attached with this article are a few photos, I might add that at the time of taking them I had not installed all the pieces that were sent; I ran out film.
There is a photo of David Pastre’s 164 S interior (the manual Q model) left had drive of course.
David lives in Canada Montreal.

Below are a few of his contact/viewing details.
Please email me if you experience difficulty with any of these urls below.
My details are in the Al Volante and also in the Clubs Home WWW Home Page.

Stephens Alfa Corp accessories shop has one of the most extensive selections of Alfa Romeo floor mats in the USA.  We can manufacture mats for right hand drive.  The mats have the beautiful ALFA ROMEO logo in the center; in the lower half of the logo we can include the state division (i.e. Queensland, Victoria, etc) of the Alfa Romeo clubs with a minimum order of 10 sets..We are the only manufacturer to provide a protective cover to keep the floor mats & logo looking beautiful when displaying at a car show. I am attaching a photo of the floor mat logo.
Please go to our website to view the mats & other items available.

We are  working at coming up with Christmas ornaments to commemorate our next national convention here in the USA (New Hampshire 2004).  We are more than willing to work with any club to supply you with the Alfa Romeo accessories you want & need.

Thanks so much,

The spare parts site,

www.PartsFind.com

Your one stop shop for Used Auto Parts, go here and fill in a form and submit your needs, I do not know how good they are at locating parts but it is FREE so it has got to be worth a try for that elusive chrome plated grommet for a 1943 milano special (for the anoraks out there...no this does not exist).

A good site for panels for 105 series
Allen Hall from Wolf Steel says "one of the largest suppliers of new, high quality steel body panels for vintage Alfas in the world! Most parts are in stock and are therefore very quickly in your hands. Custom restorations and parts are available, upon request"

I do not think I need to Introduce PitStop Bookshop your wonderful Alladin's cave of automotive temptations (my wife already has a standing account for Birthdays, Christmas etc.  so when they say "you are so hard to buy presents for" you know where to send them!)
